Grande Prairie PBR Showdown: Championship Hopefuls Face Off for Crucial Points

The Peace Country Invitational, part of the PBR circuit, will be held tonight and tomorrow at the Bonnetts Energy Centre.

Leading the PBR Canada standings is Calgary’s Nick Tetz.

“The crowd in Grande Prairie has always been pretty amazing, except for the COVID year in 2020 when no one was allowed in except maybe the sponsors.”

“This is definitely an event you don’t want to miss, being a cup event with extra points. It’s one you absolutely need to attend.”

When asked about the key to his success this year, Tetz explained:

“To be honest, Cody Coverchuk seemed like he was going to run away with the championship. He had quite a lead on everyone. I just thought, if I can stay close, do my best, and stay on my bulls, I might have a chance to catch up by the finals.”

Tetz now holds a three-point lead in the standings.

Coverchuk, despite an injury in Lacombe earlier this year, is also competing this weekend, along with 2023 winner Dakota Buttar and Dawson Creek’s Auzyn Corr.

Tetz mentions he doesn’t focus on the lead because “the standings change so often.”

“My mindset is that I’m sitting 20th right now and need to secure my spot in the finals. That’s the mentality I’m taking into this event.”

Tetz adds that he aims to “keep having fun, because winning is fun. If you’re having fun, everything else will fall into place.”
